The Great Oak Joke

GreatOakJokeThe Great Oak Joke is a new illustrated children’s book by Jenn Ashton in collaboration with Lithuanian artist Eidvile Buozyte. “What began as an entry into a newspaper writing contest decades ago, has blossomed into a wonderfully lyrical, humble effort, for two special smallish people”.

“Although I know picture books are probably out of fashion, I love paper, and I think sitting and reading a book with a child is something that can never go out of style. Turning the pages and looking at interesting pictures, hearing somebody read aloud and whisper quiet parts in your ear, or boom loud parts – the whole thing of it is an experience. I am hoping to hit up my generation of readers, who must all be having their grands around now!” ~Jenn Ashton

The Great Oak Joke is a short illustrated book for all ages. In it, two children recall a lyrical dream, a dream they both shared, where they had met for a picnic in the forest with all of their animal friends, under a great oak tree.

The book is written and illustrated by two people who share a passion for reading and the spoken word. This is the perfect book to be read aloud, of course allowing plenty of time to look at the interesting illustrations, where there is always something new to discover!

As of December 1st The Great Oak Joke (print copy) is available to purchase from And digitally, everywhere e-books are sold.
