Indie Band | Brother Townsend

BTownsend3I first met Brother Townsend at Open Mic night in Sean Kelly’s Pub downtown Missoula.  Many have asked me after writing that first story on him, “What’s happened to Brother Townsend?”  After some time in the Nevada oil fields, he made a move to Port Townsend and put together a group of musicians in order to record his music with an even more unique and rich tone.  Their sound and style fits loosely in the Americana genre, with solid deviations into Blues, Rock, and Classic Country. This being said, their music, original as it is, is of the rare sort that serves centrally as a most eloquent delivery mechanism for their equally touching lyrics.

Brother Townsend is committed to making music that speaks to the human condition, that is uncontainable by any border, and that has appeal across generations of class, racial, and social divides. Their music soars above the differences we all permit to separate us, and seeks to mend the wound. After some time of quiet craft-work and practice, Brother Townsend has now set out to take their music to the public in a more measured way. In addition to frequent performances on the Olympic Peninsula, they have recently wrapped studio production on their debut EP, Bear Bones.

The band is gathering funding for duplication, distribution, and promotion of their work via They have three days left in order to meet their goal.  With this EP in process the band will be back in the studio working on a full length album for release Fall of 2014. In keeping with their philosophy and intention, Brother Townsend will always offer their music by donation both at shows and online, and will strive to make their handiwork as accessible as possible. Look at donating today if you want to support this great Indie Band.

This is a grassroots band, making grassroots music, for anyone willing to listen. Going forward, Brother Townsend will be looking to develop a tour throughout the U.S. Pacific Northwest, and Europe.
